Acid dyes are best utilized for protein fibres such as feathers, silk, wool, fur, hair but can be extended to man-made fibres such as nylon. Their vibrant colours have been developed using full immersion traditional vat dyeing techniques in order to create a professional product which can be used for microwaving, baking, printing, spraying, painting, squirting, steaming or other dyeing techniques. These dyes come in powdered form and require some preparation before use. In order to be effective, dye powder requires very hot water as well as a fixative such as citric acid or vinegar. For paler colours, it is also recommended that a levelling agent be added before the fixative such as Glauber's salt or Ammonium Sulfate depending on the dye. It is highly recommended that colours are tested before use as different materials/temperatures/dye concentrations/length of fabric exposure/computer monitors may provide varied results. These are permanent dyes and remain fast in wash/light. Sold as an individual container of 2oz. (56g).
